Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran, born March 10, 1949, is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a public speaker as a consultant, speaker, columnist syndicated as an author, author, and television show host. The Corcoran Group, an NY-based real estate broker was started by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran later left the company. Corcoran was one of the first Shark Tank investors. She was a regular on every episode of ABC's Shark Tank. Corcoran has signed 53 deals as of February of 2020. Her biggest deal was her investment of $350,000 into Coverplay for 40%. Corcoran was born in Edgewater (New Jersey) as the second of ten children in an Irish-Catholic working class family. Florence Corcoran's mother was a housewife. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was constantly moving from one job to the next throughout Corcoran's youth. The family relied on free food deliveries from a local grocer. Corcoran recalls her father being a drunkard who sometimes treated her mother with disrespect and disrespect, especially when he had been drinking. Corcoran struggled through her schooling, later learning that she had dyslexia. Corcoran attended an Catholic primary school within her area and started high school in St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. Corcoran was absent from several classes in her first year and transferred to Leonia High School where she was an A student.
